Combining a traditional Scottish castle with a luxurious, elegant, and timeless wedding style makes for a fabulous event. Conifer Events teamed up with Crossbasket Castle to create a jaw-droppingly stunning wedding set up to showcase the venue in all its Scottish glory. You really can create a luxury, “high-end” wedding in a traditional castle venue.
About The Venue
Crossbasket Castle is a stunning 17th-century castle, recently transformed into one of Scotland’s most luxurious and exquisite wedding venues.
With 9 luxury, well-proportioned bedrooms, Crossbasket is the perfect mix of traditional meets modern for the discerning client. Most recently, Crossbasket has entered the weddings market and is a fabulous choice wedding venue with capacity for up to 200 in the main ballroom, 18 overnight guests, and copious amounts of outdoor space for those all-important exterior photographs. Around 30 minutes from Glasgow International Airport, and an hour from Edinburgh International Airport, Crossbasket is well placed for any international traveler, couple, or family looking for their perfect getaway. The market town of East Kilbride is only a stone’s throw away with a variety of hotels for any additional wedding guests unable to sleep at the castle. Natalie Timoney, Sales Manager at Crossbasket is wonderful and is on hand throughout the duration of the big day.
Traditional yet Modern
Conifer Events working alongside Natalie at Crossbasket Castle, and a suite of high-end, world-renowned wedding suppliers created the most beautiful, showstopping wedding set up. Capturing the traditional elements of the interior, Coleen at Conifer Events was able to showcase the true magic that awaits couples at Crossbasket Castle. Baby blue hues and creams adorn the downstairs interior, creating a welcoming, relaxing, and stylish reception space.
Within the tablescape, we worked natural flowers such as pampas grass, white roses, and a touch of greenery to maintain the elegant and luxurious style of the space. The surrounding furniture blended well to offer a feeling of calm and relaxation. Stephanie Smyth, florist and wedding décor specialist told us; “It was an honor to be invited to assist with the style and tablescape design at Crossbasket Castle, the venue and the surrounding grounds are completely stunning. Coleen has done a wonderful job in showcasing the potential of Crossbasket Castle for a couple looking to create a simply stunning, high-end wedding design.”
Our content brief was to showcase the true beauty and elegance of the venue by photographing the bride in various areas of the castle including the main reception rooms, entrance, and grounds. Our shoot design was to emulate a high-end bridal look in a traditional and elegant Scottish castle. I think we pulled it off beautifully with the help of London-based, international photographer Stuart Wood. The traditional yet modern furniture pieces elegantly capture the true beauty of the space. The Stewart Room is a perfect space for a champagne reception, intimate wedding breakfast, mix and mingle or a quiet and relaxing retreat after the wedding celebrations are over. All of the existing furniture can be moved out and re-arranged to create the space needed for any wedding event. Natalie at Crossbasket explains, “all of our couples like to use the space in different ways, and our team is dedicated to ensuring the space fits the needs of our couples. We often host a mix of weddings from intimate, small weddings of 10-20 to large weddings with up to 200 guests. We really can accommodate a variety of needs and will work with our couples to ensure we provide the most fabulous wedding day.”
The Wedding Dresses
UK-based model Jennifer McKay beautifully modeled a selection of wedding dresses by the wonderful Elaine at Wedding Wise, one of Glasgow’s leading wedding boutiques. The designer: Morilee.
Morilee has been creating wedding dresses since 1953. Worn and loved by generations of brides, these iconic dresses hold a timeless romance. Infused with the endless inspiration of designer Madeline Gardner, they speak to the moment and fulfill the bridal dream.
Styled wedding shoots are a great way for wedding planners to showcase a variety of different wedding styles, themes, and venues without interfering in a real-life couple’s wedding. We know all couples will not want to be featured in magazines and websites so therefore creating styled shoots, enables wedding planners to be really creative and allows local wedding suppliers to truly showcase their products and services.
Crossbasket Castle is known across Scotland for its stylish opulence, elegant and charismatic charm. Conifer Events were tasked with creating a written piece to showcase the castle as a potential wedding venue to newly engaged and engaged US couples looking to travel across the pond and experience some serious Scottish culture. Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine seemed like the perfect match. The No4 best seller in the US and the only weddings magazine sold in Harrods; this was going to be “the one”. Keep your eyes peeled later this year for our special feature. It’s going to be really special!
